How to add a COVID-19 link to your WordPress website

South African Government regulations require all domains that end in “.za” are to have a link to the Department of Health’s COVID-19 portal.

WordPress is a popular website development platform used worldwide. If you have a WordPress website, this can be done by installing the COVID-19 Plugin.

When clicking on the installed banner the user will be directed to the COVID-19 Corona Virus South African Resource Portal.

  • Log into your WordPress admin dashboard. (ie:

You would have created your own WordPress Admin logins when you first created your WordPress site or contact your website administrator.

  • Select ‘Plugins’ on the left of the dashboard.

  • Select ‘Add New Plugin’ at the top of the page.

  • Search for COVID-19
  • Select the ‘South African COVID-19 Banner’,
  • Select ‘Install Now’ to activate.

The banner notice will automatically popup on your WordPress website.
