Follow the steps below to set up your Afrihost-hosted email address in Thunderbird.
How to set up your mail in Thunderbird
Thunderbird. A free email application that's easy to set up and customise. Download Thunderbird.
- Open Thunderbird.
- Look for the 3 horizontal lines icon next to the search bar and click on it.
- Hover over ‘New Message’ and click on ‘Existing Mail Account’.
- In the Mail Account Setup window, enter your name, email address and password. Once done, click on ‘Continue’.
- Now click on the ‘Mail Config’ button at the bottom and manually enter the following details:
Incoming Mail Configuration Settings
- Set your incoming settings to IMAP
- Set your Server Hostname to mail.yourdomainname.co.za
- The Port should be 143
- Set SSL to None.
- Lastly, change your Authentication to ‘Normal password’.
- Your username should always be your full email address.
Outgoing Mail Configuration
- Set your outgoing settings to SMTP
- Set your Server Hostname to mail.yourdomainname.co.za
- The Port should be 587
- Set SSL to None.
- Lastly, change your Authentication to ‘Normal password’.
- Your username should always be your full email address.
Once you have changed your settings, click on ‘Done’.
