How to port your landline number over to Pure VoIP

If you would like to port your landline number over to VoIP but have active DSL internet services on that line, the DSL services will have to be cancelled. If you do not wish to cancel your DSL services, we suggest signing up for a new VoIP number rather than porting.

Only geographic South African numbers (starting with 01, 02, 03, 04, 05) and non‑geographic numbers (starting with 087, 080, 086, 0860, 0861) can be ported to Pure VoIP.

Mobile numbers (083, 072 and 061, etc) CAN NOT be ported.

Sign up for Afrihost Pure VoIP and port your number via our Order Form, simply follow the steps below:

  • Select the VoIP Package you want and click ‘Next step’.
  • Select ‘Port existing landline number’.
  • Enter the landline number you want to port and tick to confirm the number is supported.
  • Select ‘Next Step’.

If you want to port a landline with an active DSL service, your DSL services will have to be cancelled if you want to port a landline number with an active DSL service on it. This means you will no longer have DSL internet on that landline number. We suggest you get a new VoIP number and keep your DSL services.

  • The next page will ask if you need a VoIP device select ‘Yes, I need a VoIP phone’ or ‘No thanks’ if you have your own or will use an app.
  • You will be taken to your shopping cart. Confirm the items in your cart are correct and select ‘Checkout’.
  • If you have ordered a device, select a delivery option and follow the payment prompts.
  • Your order is now complete.

In Client Zone to give us information on the number, you wish to port.

  • Click on the ‘Pure VoIP’ tab.
  • Select the VoIP product on the right-hand side.
  • Fill in the form with the porting details and click ‘Submit Porting Details’.
  • After you have clicked submit, download the generated authorisation document.
  • Sign the document and attach it with the additional supporting documents to an email.
  • Send the email to

Supply the following supporting documents:

  • Signed copy of the Porting Request Form (The one you just completed in ClientZone).
  • A copy of your Identity Document.
  • A paid and up-to-date statement from your landline provider.
  • Proof of payment of your current landline account.

RICA your VoIP number

  • A copy of your ID/Passport.
  • Proof of Residence.

Once the port request has been accepted, it can take up to 14 working days for your number to be moved over to Pure VoIP.
