What speeds can I expect on Wireless LTE?
The Afrihost Wireless (Comsol) network averages up to 200Mbps on 5G.
The Pure Wireless (MTN) network averages up to 40Mbps on 4G and 246Mbps on 5G.
The Vodacom Wireless network averages up to 35Mbps on 4G and up to 200Mbps on 5G.
The Telkom Wireless network averages up to 40Mbps on 4G.
Speeds and latency are dependent on a variety of factors such as the number of devices connected and signal strength. Average speeds remain device and coverage dependent.
How much data can be used on an Uncapped LTE package?
Afrihost Wireless Uncapped
25Mbps Afrihost Wireless:
- Once you reach 50GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 10Mbps.
- Once you reach 80GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 2Mbps.
75Mbps Afrihost Wireless:
- Once you reach 180GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 20Mbps.
- Once you reach 220GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps.
Wireless Plus (Comsol):
- Once you reach 300GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 40Mbps.
- Once you reach 350GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps.
Pure Wireless Uncapped
20Mbps Pure Wireless:
- Subject to a monthly threshold of 100GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps for the remainder of the month.
50Mbps Pure Wireless:
- Subject to a monthly threshold of 150GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps for the remainder of the month.
100Mbps Pure Wireless:
- Once you reach 250GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 20Mbps.
- Once you reach 500GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 10Mbps.
- Once you reach the threshold of 1TB, your connection speed will be limited to 1Mbps for the remainder of the month.
Wireless Plus (MTN):
- Once you reach 250GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 50Mbps.
- Once you reach 500GB usage, your connection speed will be limited to 20Mbps.
- Once you reach the threshold of 1TB, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps for the remainder of the month.

To ensure the sustainability and quality of our network for all Clients, MTN, as the underlying network provider, may implement traffic shaping based on network congestion levels, particularly during peak hours (typically between 18:00 and 23:00).
Network shaping may affect download and upload speeds, latency, or prioritisation of certain traffic types such as video streaming, file sharing, and P2P traffic.
