How to setup emails on an Android mobile device
If you would like to know How to create an email account on your domain,, please read our Help Centre article for further assistance.
- Open the email application on the device.
- Select add ‘new account’.
- Enter your email address and email password.
- Select ‘Manual Set up’, to enter the server details in manually.
- Select the type of account you want to set up, we recommend IMAP. Click on ‘IMAP Account’.
- Next to Username enter your full email address.
- Scroll down and fill in the Incoming Server Details:
IMAP server - Enter mail(dot)the domain name. eg:mail.yourdomainname.co.za
Security type - Set to none.
Port number - 143 by default. - Scroll down to fill in the Outgoing Server Details:
SMTP server - Enter mail(dot)the domain name. eg:mail.yourdomainname.co.zaSecurity type - Set to none.
Port number - Change the port number. For non-SSL change to 587 or 25 and with SSL change to 465. - Tick the “authentication required before sending emails” box.
- Username: enter your FULL email address and password.
- Click sign in.
- You will be directed to your inbox when the set-up is complete.

- IMAP uses port 993 with SSL secure encryption and port 143 for non SSL encryption.
- POP uses port 995 with SSL secure encryption and port 110 for non SSL encryption.
- SMTP uses port 465 with SSL secure encryption and port 587 or 25 for non SSL encryption.
