How to activate your Vumatel Fibre connection

Once your line has been installed, you are only one step away from enjoying pure Internet joy. Connect up your router and activation should happen automatically and you should have internet access within 2 hours.

If activation does not happen automatically you may need to do it manually.

IMPORTANT!

If you have an existing installation and would like to transfer the line over to Afrihost as your ISP, please read How to migrate your Fibre line from another provider to Afrihost for further information.

In this article we will look at the following:

1. Examples of each FNO’s ONT devices.

2.1. How will I know if my Vuma Trench fibre line is ready for activation.

2.2. How will I know if my Vuma Aerial fibre line is ready for activation.

3. How to activate your fibre connection.

1. Below are examples of each FNO’s ONT device:

Depending on the area, Vuma will either bury the fibre cables under the ground in a trench or make use of above-ground poles to install the fibre infrastructure. In an area where the cables are buried underground the Fibre Network Operator (FNO) is referred to as Vuma, Vuma Trench, or Vuma Core. In an area where Vuma uses above-ground poles, the FNO is referred to as Vuma Aerial.
