What is Vodacom Wireless LTE?

  • Vodacom Wireless LTE is an Afrihost LTE service that runs on the Vodacom network. It provides fast, reliable internet access without the need for a fixed line.

Do I need a new SIM card?

  • Yes. To use Vodacom Wireless LTE, you will need a SIM card provisioned specifically for the Vodacom LTE network. Afrihost will supply the SIM card when you sign up.

Will my coverage improve?

  • Coverage depends on Vodacom’s LTE network in your area. Since Vodacom has extensive nationwide coverage, most clients will experience improved availability and stability.

Is Vodacom LTE available everywhere?

  • It’s available wherever Vodacom LTE coverage exists. You can check your coverage on Afrihost’s coverage map before ordering.

Can I use my existing router?

  • If your router is LTE-compatible and supports Vodacom’s frequency bands, you may be able to use it. Afrihost offers compatible LTE routers for purchase.

Who do I contact for support?

  • All support is provided directly by Afrihost. Vodacom maintains the LTE network infrastructure, but Afrihost is your point of contact for any accounts, billing or technical queries.

Am I signed into a long-term contract?

  • No. Wireless LTE is offered on a month-to-month basis with no long-term commitments. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel as needed.

How do I get started?

  • Simply sign up for a Vodacom Wireless LTE package through Afrihost, complete RICA verification and insert your LTE SIM into a compatible router to start browsing.

What is the cancellation policy for the Pure LTE packages?

Our normal Cancellation Policy applies to the Pure LTE packages.

  • SIM + Device - Should you cancel your SIM + Device package, in less than 6 months from signup date, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee.
  • SIM Only - The cancellation fee does NOT apply to SIM Only packages. These packages can be cancelled at any time before the 15th of the month.

Can I migrate from my current LTE package over to Vodacom LTE?

  • Unfortunately not, existing Afrihost LTE clients will need to cancel their existing packages and sign up for a new Vodacom Wireless LTE package via ClientZone. Cancellation policy applies.

What happens to my LTE device and Vodacom Wireless LTE SIM when I move to a new address?

  • You can take your device and SIM card with you to your new location. If Vodacom coverage is available in the area, you will be able to connect without issues. However, please note that Afrihost cannot be held responsible if there is no network coverage at your new address.

What if I already have an approved LTE device? Can I sign up for a SIM only package?

  • Yes, a SIM only Vodacom Wireless LTE option is available. Ensure you have a compatible device.

Do you offer Unlimited LTE data packages?

  • Yes, Uncapped LTE packages are available with Vodacom wireless LTE. Night Time data does NOT apply to uncapped packages.

How does Vodacom Wireless Uncapped LTE data work?

  • 20Mbps Uncapped Vodacom Wireless LTE - Subject to a monthly threshold of 100GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 4Mbps for the remainder of the month.
  • 50Mbps Uncapped Vodacom Wireless LTE - Subject to a monthly threshold of 150GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 8Mbps for the remainder of the month.
  • 100Mbps Uncapped Vodacom Wireless LTE - Subject to a monthly threshold of 300GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 10Mbps for the remainder of the month.
  • Wireless Plus - Subject to a monthly threshold of 600GB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 20Mbps for the remainder of the month.

What is the difference between Anytime data and Night Time data?

  • Anytime data can be used anytime of the day. Night time data is valid from specified times. Vodacom Wireless LTE Night Time data is valid from 12am to 5am.

When is Night Time Vodacom Wireless LTE data valid?

  • Night Time data is only valid from 00:00 (midnight) to 05:00 daily.

Does LTE data roll over?

  • Anytime and Night Time data will roll over for 30 days.

How long is Top up data for LTE valid for?

  • All Vodacom Wireless LTE top ups include Anytime data. Anytime top up data expires 30 days from purchase.

Does unused data roll over at the end of the month?

  • Vodacom Wireless anytime data will roll over for 30 days.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?

PACKAGE CHANGES. 

Package changes will only be effective on the 1st of the following month, regardless of when in the month the request is made or whether it is an upgrade or downgrade. This is a restriction from our providers.

Device

Can I use my own device with Wireless LTE?

  • Only approved CAT6 devices will work with Vodacom Wireless LTE SIM Only packages on the Vodacom LTE Network.

  1. HUAWEI: 5G CPE PRO 2
  2. NOKIA: FastMile 5G Gateway 3.2
  3. ZTE: 5G CPE MC801A, 5G CPE G5T, 5G CPE G5TS
IMPORTANT! 

Please note that Vodacom Wireless will only work on the above approved devices. If you insert your SIM card into a device that has not been approved by Vodacom, your SIM card will be blocked, and you will lose internet access. You will then have to contact Afrihost Support to get your SIM card unblocked.

Do I need to set up my LTE device?

  • If you have signed up for a SIM + Device package, Afrihost will preconfigure your new LTE device that is then shipped with your SIM card to you, so you do not need to change any settings.

How many people can connect at the same time?

  • You can connect up to 64 wireless devices concurrently to the included ZTE G5TS device. Please note that speeds may be affected by the number of devices connected to your modem.

Is there a delivery fee charged?

  • SIM Only orders (Pure Wireless (MTN), Vodacom Wireless and Telkom Wireless) will be delivered FREE of charge.
  • Vodacom Wireless SIM + Device orders will be delivered FREE of charge. The delivery fee is covered as part of the promotion. Please see our Terms & Conditions

Do I need to RICA my LTE SIM card?

  • ALL SIM cards need to be RICA compliant. Migrations and sim swaps do not need to be RICA’d, however, new sign-ups do. To RICA a SIM card you will need your ID or Passport and Proof of Residence not older than 3 months. eRICA information can be uploaded directly on ClientZone.

What speeds can I expect on this network?

  • The Vodacom network averages up to 35Mbps on 4G and up to 200Mbps on 5G.
